Amorphous Alloy Dry Type Transformer

Amorphous alloy is a new type of magnetic and prominent energy-saving materials. With the rapid quenching solidification production process, the metal atoms are disordering and arranged non crystal. Unlike the crystal structure of silicon steel, it is easier to be magnetized and demagnetized. 80 percent of the typical amorphous alloy is composed by iron, while the other ingredient is boron and silicon. The amorphous alloy iron chip is very thin, the thickness of which is only 20 to 30um, less than 1 / 10 of the common silicon steel sheet. The characteristics of amorphous alloy core are as follows: high saturation magnetic induction intensity, low-loss (equivalent to 20% - 30% of the silicon). low coercivity, low excitation current, and stability of temperature.

Considering the characteristics of the amorphous alloy, three-phase five-volume core is used as the structure of amorphous alloy dry-type transformer, and the iron is clamped with sheet or molding frame. The structure of HV winding is multisegment and multiplayer, and LV winding is foil. The products have many excellencies as excellent energy-saving, low loss, powerful anti-short circuit capability, low partial-discharge and low noise. We successfully developed the largest capacity amorphous alloy dry-type transformer (SCBH15-2000/10) in domestic market, which one-time passed all the tests of the National Transformer Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, including all the routine tests, type tests and special tests. Economic Analysis

According to the State Power Industry Standard DL/T 985-2005 Guide for determining energy efficiency for distribution transformers, and the current international conventional economic evaluation methods for transformers the energy efficiency for transformers is judged by the total owning cost and the payback period of investment.

1. Total owning cost
  • Total owning cost (TOC) is the syntheses of the initial cost and the equal loss cost, and can fully indicate the integrative cost of the transformer.
  • Total owning cost = costs of transformer equipment + costs of no-load loss + costs of load loss.
  • According to the current load, the cost of no-load loss of 20-years is 58.3 RMB/W, and the cost of load loss is 21.1RMB. Taking SCBH15-630 amorphous alloy for example, contrasting with conventional SCB9-630, the price difference is about 42 965 (reference), then the cost saving of amorphous alloy transformer is TOC=-42965+58.3x(1460-410)+21.1x(5510-5200)=24791 RMB.
  • Above description shows that, integrative costs of amorphous alloy dry-type transformer are less than costs of ordinary dry-type transformers.
2. Payback period of investment
  • Without regard to the time factor of funds, investment payback period = price difference of equipment/ costs of electricity a year. Taking SCBH15-630 amorphous alloy for example, the payback period (N) is: N = 42965 /[8760 x 0.7x (1.46- 0.41+5.51-5.2)] = 5.2 years. 8760: the hours of one year, electricity costs calculated by 0.7 RMB/kWh.
  • Through above analysis, amorphous alloy dry-type transformer has better economic and social benefits.
