Specialty Transformers Transformer Oil Water Cooler

Product Description

Product Description

Our transformer oil water coolers can be delivered in various installation variants. In the standard version, water coolers are mounted directly on the transformer tank. Additionally, free-standing transformer oil cooling systems according to customer specifications are part of our delivery program. The coolers are generally used for special transformer types, such as transformers for combustion furnaces or for rectifiers. Another application is the cooling of machine transformers in hydropower plants.

Double-Walled Safety Design: Unlike single-walled tube bundle heat exchangers, the tube bundle in double-walled design is equipped at each end with two tube sheets.

Leakage Control: In the event of a leak in one tube wall, the product enters the leak collection chamber through fine channels that are integrated between the double tubes, triggering a control message.

Continuous Operation: The fluids remain separated due to the second intact tube. The plant operator can continue to operate the heat exchanger without costly downtime until the next scheduled maintenance.

We have been supplying double tube coolers for over 30 years. Today, double tube safety heat exchangers represent the current state of the art in transformer oil water coolers. Transformer oil water coolers are available in various designs.

TOWC Smart

Transformer oil water coolers in the standard version fully exploit economic potential while ensuring safety and high maintenance standards.

TOWC Advanced

Frequently Asked Questions
1. What are the installation options for transformer oil water coolers?
They can be delivered in various installation variants, including a standard version mounted directly on the transformer tank, as well as free-standing transformer oil cooling systems built according to customer specifications.
2. For what types of applications are these cooling systems used?
These coolers are generally used for special transformer types, such as transformers for combustion furnaces or for rectifiers, as well as for cooling machine transformers in hydropower plants.
3. How does the double-walled tube bundle safety design work?
The double-walled design features two tube sheets at each end. If a leak occurs in one tube wall, the fluid enters an integrated leak collection chamber through fine channels between the double tubes, triggering a control message while keeping the fluids safely separated.
4. Can the system continue operating if a leak is detected?
Yes. Because the fluids remain separated by the second intact tube, the plant operator can continue to operate the heat exchanger without costly downtime until the next scheduled maintenance.
5. What is the difference between TOWC Smart, Advanced, and Premium designs?
The Smart design focuses on economic potential with high safety standards; the Advanced design is a cost-optimized option balancing high requirements and cost awareness; the Premium design complies with standard DIN EN 50216-9 and is ideal when frequent cleaning intervals are necessary.
